One of my suspicions is that during the early stages of the unrestricted free agent courting process, it became clear to Senators management that they did not have a realistic chance of landing any of their preferred right defence targets.
From all reports, the front office is diligent and methodical. I'd imagine they considered everyone and anyone before coming up with a list of candidates to acquire. Kovacevic had a big 22-23 season, but then fall back a bit last year.
I think Perron does a lot of things well to help sustain offence and keep possessions alive in the offensive zone. Unfortunately, he gets panned (and deservedly so) for his waning foot speed. As an aging talent in his late 30's, that likely isn't going to change. He's not a perfect player, but he still does things well to contribute. I'll try and put something together on him in the next few days.
Music to my ears.
Did the Senators considered getting Jonathan Kovacevic from the Habs for a fourth round draft pick?

Appreciate that. Thank you!
