Good article. Joseph is not perfect, but as a general rule I'd like to see the Sens add speed to the lineup rather than removing it. I wonder to what extent Garrioch is recycling old rumours.

It depends on how much you value Joseph vs how much you believe you can replace that value at a lesser cost. If you can flip Joseph for assets, replace him more cheaply and reallocate that money on a desperately needed RD (who significantly improves the position), the Senators will come out ahead.

I guess it depends what assets are on offer. His counting stats don't stand out, but there are likely teams that value his speed on the forecheck and PK ability. Crookshank won't replace either of those things, but he does bring other desirable attributes. If Staios wants to bring in new vets on the third line then it could make sense to move Joseph out. A new vet in his place likely doesn't yield any extra cap space, but might bring more grit and experience (although Joseph has played more playoff games than most Sens players). In the end, I am not convinced that moving Joseph is a priority compared to figuring out what to do with players like Chychrun, Brannstrom, the goalies, Hamonic buyout, etc, not to mention prepping for the draft.
